Inspiring, creative workshops for Sussex dancers, launching with a 4-day summer intensive from 6-9 August 2019
Dance Sparks Workshops is a new company that aims to make inspiring, creative workshops for Sussex-based dancers and teachers. We are excited to launch with a challenging 4–day summer intensive. Guest teachers who will be joining us for a day each are the amazing Josh Denyer, Melody Squire, Alice Rhodes & Maximilian Jarish.
The 4-day course features a programme of workshops and classes in Jazz, Contemporary, Commercial, Heels, Improvisation, Choreography and more. The venue is a school with two large, bright & airy halls, and a beautiful outdoor space for lunches.
Other activities will include a dance photoshoot, filming, a dancewear stall, and a showcase at the end of the week.
Dancers should be experienced and proficient in at least one of our three core styles: Contemporary, Jazz or Street. Workshops will be split into two groups by age and ability.

Contemporary & Improvisation
American-born choreographer Melody Squire is known for creating visually stimulating work as well as her innate storytelling ability. Her versatility across dance genres makes her a choreographer in high demand, working extensively in film, television and theatre.
As a performer, Melody has worked with numerous artists including Madonna, James Blunt and pop promo for Beyoncé. Notable choreography credits include: Selfridges, the Corrs, SYTYCD UK and Tiger Bay the Musical.
Melody is the founder and artistic director of Sol Dans Company, an award winning contemporary dance company. Melody is passionate about dance education and teaches regular classes at Pineapple Dance Studios and Italia Conti, as well as master classes worldwide.
& Jazz Technique
Josh will be teaching a mixture of technique & contemporary jazz, and his classes are designed to challenge and push dancers. He will also teach technical transitions from across the room exploring different turns, kicks, and jumps.
Josh Denyer is an accomplished Australian Dancer whose credits include the title role of Billy Elliot, Dance Academy, Young Talent Time, Neleus in Mary Poppins and much more.
His contemporary choreography will involve technique, athleticism, dynamics and artistry.
Urban Commercial, Street and Heels
Alongside her Professional contemporary training at Laban, Alice trained and performed with One of London’s most respected HipHop dance companies, Boy Blue Ent.
Alice started her professional dance career at 19 years old when she landed a role in HipHop theatre show ‘Pied Piper’ at the Barbican. From then she went to perform in the West End with ‘Thriller Live.’
Although remaining routed in HipHop, Alice then went on to work more commercially dancing in commercials, music videos and Live shows for Music Artists.
Credits include; Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, French Montana, Will I Am, Beyoncé & Pharrell.
Alongside her professional work Alice has also built her own creative company CRAFT ENT; which has landed her creative and choreography work. Credits include; Adidas, Universal Music, Melissa Steel, Manhattan Cosmetics and many more.
Maximilian is a choreographer based in London. Since graduating from Bird college where he obtained a diploma in professional dance and musical theatre he has been working extensively in the dance industry.
After graduating, Maximilian was lucky enough to tour with various contemporary/ hip hop companies round the U.K as well as internationally working as a dancer and also assistant choreographer. Max teaches all across Europe, and has taught in Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Denmark.
